WSD-India Message from the desk of

K. Sankaranarayanan
GOVERNOR OF MAHARASHTRA

16 March  2012

M E S S A G E

I am pleased to know that the Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) is celebrating the World Sparrow Day - India on 20th March to create awareness about the declining population of sparrows.

Rapid urbanisation, growing pollution and drastic climate changes taking place in the world are affecting the life and habitat of birds and animals. Birds are finding it increasingly difficult to survive in the concrete jungles of the cities. We need to imbibe love for nature, birds and animals among children and at the same time create a better world for birds and animals to live and prosper.

I congratulate the Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Mumbai for its efforts towards this end and reiterate my support to their campaign to save sparrow wholeheartedly.
